When we get sick, sometimes we feel like just lying in bed and wrap yourself up in the blankets. Especially when you live alone or in other places, away from your family. You then think of the time when you were small and your mom was there to take care of you.
When you live alone you have to go out and buy your medicines and cook your food. Chicken noodle soup which is what you are usually given, I don’t know what it is, the noodles or the chicken but after eating some you feel good. And makes you feel better.
I would remember my mom would cook the chicken soup, with garlic, young papaya and pepper leaves. She would boil it until the chicken is soft. She would then bring you a bowl some rice if you want and the drink is always 7-up or sprite. I usually ask for sprite or the royal tru orange drink
Even if you don’t eat much because of the headache, stuffy nose and fever, you feel better after you have the hot soup in your stomach. Now i would cook chicken sopas or chicken macaroni soup with milk and give crackers – Skyflakes.
Maybe it is not the food per se. But I think it is the feeling of being loved and having someone care for you that makes you feel better. I helps boosts our resistance. Who wouldn’t feel good when someone you love is caring for you. Giving you the chicken soup, the crackers and the drinks. Also following up your medications. Someone to help dry your back when you perspire and help change your clothes and give you a sponge bath.
When you feel loved and needed our immune system seems to increase. it makes you want to get better fast.
So for me it is not just the soup, food, or medicines but the love and care you get from your family and the love and care you give to your children. I have noticed the difference, when you are alone and have to do things for yourself, it seems that it takes a long time to get better and even if you are not 100% well you still have to go back to work but with tender loving care from someone makes it easier and faster.
What do you think?
