The Art of Pinteresting: Your Ultimate Guide to Pinterest Business Account

I am a big fan of Pinterest. When I started blogging, I enjoyed pinning images to my boards as a way of promoting my blog. I enjoyed navigating through follower’s boards, re pinning and commenting. However, that was just like a short sweet dream.

While examining my SERP for some of my blog’s posts, I noticed that a Pinterest board page had a SERP 4 for one of my keywords. How come an ordinary woman, who knows nothing about SEO get such a good SERP?!

I thought if she can do it, then I can do it too!

I write about natural beauty tips, but Pinterest can be good for your niche, too. You should be aware of the fact that Pinterest is not a social tool for only food recipes, beauty and fashion lovers. It can be a powerful tool for bloggers and business owners, too.

Why choose Pinterest?

  • Pinterest is a great source for do-follow links: the treasure that all bloggers are seeking for. All you need is a Pinterest business account to start gaining do-follow links to your website or blog.
  • Pinterest has developed a Pinterest business account that is similar to that in Facebook, where you can promote your brand and engage with your followers using your brand name instead of your personal name.

Should I have a Pinterest business account?

If you are a blogger, or a business owner you should concern converting to a business account since:

  • You will be able to have your own business name showing on your Pinterest business account.
  • Your Pinterest business account will help you drive traffic to your blog or business website.
  • Build your personal brand and find customers for your products or services.
  • In the future when Pinterest provide more services and products for business accounts you will be notified and will have the ability to use them.
  • No fees are applied when converting or subscribing a Pinterest business account.
  • You can link your business account to your Facebook and Twitter accounts.
  • You can add a Pin It button, Follow button, Profile widget and Board widget to your website or blog through your Pinterest business account.

Set up Your Pinterest Business Account.

1. Sign up for a Pinterest business account.

One of the most advantages for signing up, is that you will have more features including verifying your website URL. If you already have an account on Pinterest, you can also convert your account easily after accepting theย terms of service.

2. Verify your website.

This is a very important step for showing professionalism. Besides, people who like your pins may like to visit the source; that is your blog or website. You have two choices verify with either an HTML file or a META tag.

Once verified a checkmark will appear next to your website URL. In addition, users will be able to see the full URL of your website.

3. Add a Pin it button to your blog/website.

There are several ways to add a Pin it button, either by embedding the Pin it button in your website, using a plugin for social bookmarking websites, or adding a Pin it button to the photos appearing in your blog.

I prefer the last one. There are several plugins for that, one of them, “jQuery Pin it button for images”. When this plugin is activated on a WordPress blog, the image is highlighted whenever the mouse hovers over the image, I like this option, since it attracts Pinterest addicts to Pin your images!

Features you will like.

Pinterest Web Analytics:

To get access to this service you need a verified website address and switching to the new Pinterest look. Both are easy to do.

In addition to the classical Pin it button, Pinterest allows you to add a follow button, profile widget, and a board widget to your website. This is very useful in showing your boards or latest pins.

How to make the best use of Pinterest?

  • Start with your profile.

Set a good image that represents your business.

Write a brief description of your business

Include your website URL and verify it if you did not do that before.

Connect your Pinterest business account with Facebook and Twitter accounts through your Pinterest account settings.

  • Create boards that have relevant content to your website.

You want your boards to give a brief idea of what is your website all about. So, take your time in picking the boards you want to share with your followers.

  • Optimize your boards.

Optimizing your boards would be of great benefit to you. I have seen boards with SERP of 4 and 6 . If you can optimize your boards, you may get more traffic from Google, thus more followers to your boards.

How to optimize my boards?

Easy! Choose a relevant name for your board that contains the keyword you want to rank for. Write an attractive description for your board, and choose the relevant category for it. Take a look at one of my Pinterest boards, you will see how I used the keyword ” Beauty Tips” in the board’s name and description.

What if I have already created my boards? Can I make some changes?

Of course! You can edit your boards name and description at any time without effecting the pins included in it. The only action that you cannot undo is deleting a board, so think carefully before clicking the delete board button!

  • Choosing your pins.

When pining images make sure to choose attractive, meaningful images. Your pins should show a message to your visitors that is clear enough to encourage them to follow you.

Images pinned should be relevant to your followers interests. If you have other interests either pin them in a separate board, or create a new personal Pinterest account for your interests.

Marketing Tips

The marketing tips that you apply to your Twitter and other social Media apply here, too:

  • Engage with your followers by commenting on their pins, repinning useful pins, and liking their pins.
  • Use the URL http://pinterest.com/source/yourdomain.com to know who pin images from your website and thank them for sharing your pins.

Tip: Choose attractive images for your board covers, you can do that by hovering the mouse on the board cover and clicking “Change cover”.

Can I use Pinterest in my niche?

Some may think that it is difficult to use Pinterest in their niche. Actually, anyone can use it; you just need add some tools and imagination to your work.

Suppose you are blogging in SEO niche, and you have an awesome page design, make a screen shot of it, upload it to one of your boards and write a good description.

Tip: When adding pins from your computer, include your website URL in your description, thus directing those who like your pin to your website.

Features that maybe available in the future.

  • Hash tags: this is a useful tool that increase the ability for your pins to appear in search results made within Pinterest.
  • Connecting Pinterest Business account with your Facebook business page. You can now connect your Pinterest Business account to your personal Facebook account. Connecting to your Facebook page would be a useful tool to post on both business accounts at the same time. Hope that this will be available soon!
  • Scheduled pins: when most of your followers are in a time zone different from yours, it would be very useful to schedule your pins rather than staying awake for late hours at night to pin your images!

These are the main features for Pinterest business account. Hope that more features will be added soon in the future.

So, what about you? Are you a regular user of Pinterest? What other tips you can add?

Are you still new to Pinterest? Will you consider using Pinterest as a part of your social bookmarking routine?

to view your Pinterest analytics, you need to switch to the new Pinterest look. To do that use the drop down menu on the top right of your Pinterest account page.
SERP stands for ” search engine results Page”, In other words, it is the listing of results returned by a search engine in response to a keyword query .The smaller the number the better. It is a good tool for tracking your search engine optimization progress. There are several free SERP tools online you can use.
Feel free to ask if you have additional questions.
