Time To Take Back Control!

There’s a moment that pretty much everyone reaches in their life. It can happen at just about any time. It can sneak up on your or it can build up over a long period. But at some point in your life, you’re going to start feeling like it’s out of control. As though all of the control over your life is disappearing and everything spinning away from you. It can feel as though you’re falling or being pulled under by churning water. It’s undoubtedly one of the most frightening feelings in the world. As human beings, we’re used to being in control of ourselves and our lives so having that taken away can be truly awful. But it’s not permanent. Not only that but it’s also not something you just have to wait out. You don’t have to sit around waiting for that feeling to go away. If you want to feel as though you’re in control of your life again, you need to to take that control back! You need to take a look at yourself and decide that you’re not going to put up with being carried along on life’s current anymore. The time has come for you to plant your feet on the ground and choose the direction of your life for yourself. Here are some surprisingly simple ways to take back control of your life.

Know your own strength

One thing that can cause people to feel as though their life is spiraling out of their control is the fact that they don’t feel as though they have the inner strength to hold it together. However, most people are far stronger than they give themselves credit for. You may feel as though life’s current is stronger than you are, but you absolutely have the power to fight against it and win. Of course, that’s not to say that your inner strength isn’t something that you need to work at. Jennifer Maanavi, CEO, and co-founder of Physique 57 understands this better than most. Just like physical strength, your strength of will and mind need to be exercised in order to stay strong. There are plenty of things that you can do to increase that inner strength. When you do, you’ll find that things that once felt like they were pulling you down can’t affect you anymore.

Question everything

One of the most dangerous phrases in any language is “we’ve always done it this way.” You should never take anything for granted because when you do that, you set yourself up to be taken advantage of. You should constantly be questioning things that are going on around you. Why is the world like this? Why am I expected to be this kind of person? Why are these things expected of me? These kinds of questions are crucial for you to be able to carve out a clearer, more personal idea of the world and your place in it, something that it so important if you want to take control of your life.

Embrace what scares you

Fear is good. This is something that we aren’t told nearly often enough. Fear is a wonderful thing because it shows us what’s important. If you’re afraid of something, then you should be asking yourself why. Now, of course, some things are good to be afraid. Being afraid of a wild animal is a survival technique that we have developed over millions of years. But some fears are simply pointless. Why are you scared to go for that job that you really want? Why are you scared to ask someone out on a date? These kinds of fears are a reminder that your life is in your hands. When you embrace these things, you allow yourself to take control of that fear and prevent it from dominating your life. Fear is good, but not if you let it dictate the way in which you live your life. All of the best things in life are on the other side of the fear that you’re feeling. If you’re not at least a little nervous to do something, that’s probably because it doesn’t really matter that much. By understanding why you’re afraid of something, you can take control of that fear and use it to make your life better.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help

One thing that can make life so much harder than it needs to be is the fact that so many of us assume that the only right way to face it is all alone. Even those of us with close knit groups of friends, partners or family members around us feel the need to try and go through life without letting anyone in. This often comes from the idea that asking for help is a sign of weakness. However, in reality, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, the opposite is true. It takes a huge amount of strength to be able to turn to the people in your life and tell them that you need help. It’s not always easy to do, but it will make your life so much better. When you feel like your life is spiraling out of control, having other people around to bring you back onto solid ground can be one of the most important things in the world.

The most important thing to remember is that the little voice in your head telling you that it’s pointless to even try is lying to you. No matter how much it may feel like you’ve lost control, there are always things that you can do to get that control back. The power over your own life is always in your hands, you just need to be able to take a good, hard look, and finally, see it. It’s not always easy to do, in fact sometimes it can feel like the hardest thing there is, but it’s always worth making that effort because you’ll come out the other side happier, stronger, and more in control than you ever thought possible.
