Every one will probably say Life is when you are living, breathing and moving; and Death is when you are no longer breathing and moving. But there re also other meanings, other differences.
Like these two trees in my back yard. The healthy living one in in my side while the dying one is in my neighbors side. But there is no one living there. It has been abandoned. See our tree is alive healthy and green. My mom talks to it every once and a while especially when there is a fruit. She planted that tree long ago I think from the seed of a pomelo fruit she ate once which was sweet but the fruit here is not that sweet but not sour either. Our helpers water it every once and a while too not daily because it has been raining. And when the sweep the yard the roots gets a little massage and fertilized with the leaves. So it lives and thrives with all the attention it gets.
While the other tree, no one is there. No one to talk to it, water it or feed it. So it slowly dies. It dies with lack of attention and love. Even if my helpers throw water over the fence it still won’t thrive. Even if we fertilize it now, it is kind of late.
It is like with people, if we are happy, get loved and nourished not only in food but our soul than we are alive. Our body is being fertilized by the food we eat, our soul by our faith and prayers to God. Our emotions comes alive when we love, hate or be sad. then we have exercise to strengthen our muscles and bodies, we sleep and rest to keep them strong. If we do thing in moderation we become alive, healthy and I can say we are living. We have people around to love and love us in return.
But if you are a person who does not like to interact with others, be a loner, have no faith and hide all your feelings and do not share, you are like a living dead. Alive maybe but dead on the inside. Like the saying “Man does not live on Bread alone”. You may have all the food you want and maybe the riches but you are alone. There is no one to take care of you when you get sick, no one to love you. No one to laugh with or cry. All you emotions are pent up inside.
I have seen families who are middle class even poor but they are happy and complete, they are alive. They enjoy every little thing they have, they are grateful just to be alive. Then there are these rich people. Big houses, plenty of cars and very tall big concrete fences all around. Security guards, maids and gardeners. But they are alone. They don’t trust people, they are scared. They have a right too because of all the crimes and stuff. But even if you are rich you can still open up and live life to the fullest, just have faith and trust.
We all want riches and material things. I do too. But sometimes we are given what is meant for us. We have to make the most of it. Keep your faith. Go and Live.
I am not saying that all the rich are alone or all the poor are having fun. There are also the poor and middle class who are also living in solitude.
So when people tell you to go get a life, do it, start living, don’t wait till it’s too late and then you realize you are slowly dying.
Your life is what you make it. Whenever I feel down, I look at the trees outside my house and tell myself I am lucky because I still have my family, friends and my dogs who loves me, nurtures me and keeps me ALIVE!
