The alarm just went off and so does you! You hurriedly hit the shower and in a breeze you are all dressed up for work—skipping hi’s and hello’s to family members and your meal. Always in a hurry that you think that 24 hours in a day is just awfully short for you to be able to get things done and to be in places where you are supposed to be.
So little time, so much to do…..the chant that you keep on repeating as you hover your way through the crowd of people getting into the train and into the elevator. Is this the way on how you want to live your life? Always in a hurry that you often forget the important things you need to remember like your anniversary, or your lunch date with your girlfriends, and much worse, your own birthday?! You are definitely killing yourself—in every aspect that there is.
On your death bed, would you be thinking of how the company you are working for will be functioning without you? Or would you think about your boss who might be having trouble finding a replacement for your position? If that is how you think, I am sorry to say but you have just wasted all your life for things that are supposed to be just the “accessories” for being a transient creature on this lovely world.
We should work to be able to live our daily lives and not the other way around. Leave work-related stuff in the office after 5pm. If it is impossible to do it everyday, at least put some restrictions on yourself. Your mobile phone may be just one of the few causes of losing a good relationship, don’t you know? More than having an affair with another one, which is a great possibility, is being too attached with the online world. Work can take so much of your time each day. Your family may somehow understand that all your efforts are directed to their welfare. But constantly tapping your phone just to check your email and Facebook may not be that too important. Think of the time that you are losing each day. You may not realize just how your family misses you a lot. You skipped going to family gatherings. People no longer recognize you when they bump into you by the streets!
Slow down and realize your priorities in life. You are a human being and not a cat that has nine lives! Do your best to be the best person that you are in a way that people around you will remember that more than the trusted employee of the most prestigious company in the land is the person that everyone loves because of the love that you have shared to all of them.
