Nobody enters marriage institution with an aim of divorcing. We all enjoy raising our children in a friendly environment guarded by love and commitment. But when things go sour, we don’t have to stick to a marriage that brings the worst part of our lives all the time. Life must go on whether in marriage or not.
The stigma of divorce is even deeper since even our friends work hard to make the divorced look bad in the society. They are branded names and every time a young adult is being counseled about marriage people who have divorced become good examples.
How can a divorced people be helped to move on with their lives?
A person who has undergone a divorce needs moral support and counseling in order to move on with life. It is never an easy thing to do especially if the person is given the responsibility of taking care of the children. Children will always ask questions and demand for answers. So if these people are properly counseled it becomes easy for them and the children too.
Another thing is acceptance. We are our own enemies and this is what kills the will to go on living. Let the society be educated on these things so that they can also help the divorced people cope and move on.
Starting support groups is another amazing way of helping the divorced people. In these groups they will have a chance to talk to other people who have undergone the same process. They will get the strength and encouragement from associating with them. They will also be able to make friends which will in turn make their burden lighter.
Lastly these people need to be offered jobs especially for those who were fully dependent to their partners. This will enable them continue taking care of their families and their children will have all they had before.
