I loved to do cross stitch projects before. Here are some samples. I follow the instructions and the colors but if I do not have the available colors I make my own. I choose my own shades like the 4 silver frames, I chose the colors because my sister-in-law sent the pattern to me and I did not have that much colored threads so I chose my own colors to use. It didn’t turn out bad. I tried to make it as close to the shade needed.
Before the computers, I would sit outside and later even in the office of my first business, a school of music, the branch of Yamaha School of Music that my cousin had in the city. So while listening to the teacher teach the students piano, organ and voice I was sitting there making my cross stitch. I would buy different threads and colors, the cloth and patterns. My sister-in-law even sent me her old editions of her cross stitch magazines.
I want to go back but maybe someday I still have 2 big projects I kept safe that are 1/2 done an ocean view with 2 dolphins jumping and a lady standing by the piano. Maybe my daughter will take over, she knows how to also.
Then I went into collecting things. My first were Care Bear stuff toys. I have about 24 and still looking out for those I do not have. I collected them throughout the years. When I see one on sale online I check to make sure I don’t have that yet. I have them placed them on display in a glass covered shelf. I may have to check them out someday and list the names of the ones I have. Then I started to collect angel figurines and matchbox cars, now please don’t ask me why but I do have some I collected from the Shell and Petron Gasoline stations that had them. Now I am collecting key chains and refrigerator magnets. Most are given to me from friend and relatives. It makes me feel good just looking at them. It gives me a happy feeling to see my collection. The hard work of looking for them, sometimes spending for them and asking for them.
Doesn’t looking at all these collections and hobbies make you feel good? It makes me feel like “wow I was capable of doing these and collecting all these items?” I take good care of them. The key chains are separated in 4 different boxes, one for local, Asian countries, from the US and the last from other places. I also dust the refrigerator magnets and dust the angle figurines.
To have to take care of the things you worked hard for. I am expecting more key chains and refrigerator magnets from friends and relatives. They informed me they have some for me. One nephew going around doing his bucket list has collected some key chains for me.
My best collection and hobby are my books. I have too many to picture. Probably over 1000 in the book shelf and some in drawers. I love to read. I buy 2nd hand but good quality books. My favorite genre are suspense and thriller. Like Dean Koontz the author I think I have about 60 or more of his books.
So when I was younger I was kept busy without the computer. Now seems like playing online games and blogging are now my hobbies or pastime. At least I can earn too.
Choosing a hobby does not have to be expensive, gardening or drawing even making loom bands can be a hobby that are not expensive. I wanted to do cooking but ingredients are expensive. But you must choose something that really interests you and you know you can do. Some hobbies can also become income generating like the loom bands, making accessories or even sewing.
