Let one person with a good posture stand beside a person that stoops, who among them would you think is healthy or has a great perspective of life? Of course, you would choose the one that is able to hold his shoulders straightly aligned to his ears than the person who seems to be seeking for some coins on the ground. What do you think contributes to having a bad posture?
One thing for sure, a person who might be having some psychological issues would not hold his head up high. Thus adopting the poor habit of walking with his head low, pockets inside his hand. It is a complete picture of a person who has lost his self-esteem. And what could be the cause of depression? There are a lot of factors like having difficulty trying to fit in, some eating disorders or obesity. All these that I have mentioned may lead to poor posture thus increase the risk of having back pains, and much worse, other medical issues.
Have you heard of this one rare disease, ankylosing spondylitis ? A described by Mayoclinic, t is a is an inflammatory disease that can cause some of the vertebrae in your spine to fuse together. This fusing makes the spine less flexible and can result in a hunched-forward posture. If ribs are affected, it may be difficult to breathe deeply.
There has been one drug that was developed to cure such pain, however, aside from the cost of the drug itself, it has a lot of side effects which are far worse than what you want to cure. Isn’t it a bit unfair for these drug companies to develop such drug only to make things worse for the patient?
You do not want to spend $20,000 a year just for that, would you. So what you need to do is to make it a habit to straighten your back whether you are standing up, walking or just sitting down. It is important to make your back straight because it allows us to breath better as well as prevent our internal organs from compression.
