Tips to achieve it.
University is probably one of the most important stages in the life of any person, it is for many, for others it is only the last step to freedom from social oppression that dictates that “everyone should have a college degree.”
No matter what your situation is:
- You do it to please your parents.
- You want the title to not feel like a loser.
- You really want to be a professional.
Or whatever the reason is, if you want to reach the end of a college career, the truth is: college is difficult.
To give you the pass to that title teachers are going to really make you sweat, they’re going to make it difficult, and many students abandon the attempt before succeeding. Even you may have already felt the desperation and desire to leave, the frustration that some subjects are very hard to pass, the anger with some teachers.
But be calm, this process will end some day, you just have to hold on a little, move forward step by step, and the day when you say goodbye to tasks, exhibitions, tests and teachers will finally come.
Here I have some tips that helped me to go all the way in this process through the different classrooms to earn a college degree.
Choose a career that you REALLY like.
Better choose something worth fighting, something that really motivates you.
Make a chart of your progress.
To make more bearable this process you can make a chart with different squares, for example every box can mean a semester, each time you pass a semester you’d be crossing a square, this can relieve tension in those moments when you want to give up everything, you take your graphic and see what you’ve progressed, it’s motivational when you say “I have already passed more than half, just a little more.”
Do not let your grades define you.
Live for today, enjoy it, enjoy your friends, be friends with your teachers, and do not worry so much about your grades.
In my case, I did the best I could and I used to look all my friends asking the teachers about their grades, I never asked what my grades were, and at the graduation; surprise! It turned out that I had one of the best grades of that generation.
Friends that encourage you to succeed.
You have no idea how much does this function, if you have friends who provide support, fun times (not everything is study) and that will be with you through the different processes of your career is very motivating.
It helps wake up every morning knowing that you along with your friends are looking for the same purpose, and at the end you’re left with relationships that will last a lifetime (remember stories after many years is the best).
Promise it to someone.
Finally, if you really you are struggling to achieve, and lack of motivation is growing, maybe you can inject a little stimulation making a promise to a loved one, your mother, your grandfather, your future wife, someone who deserves that gift, the gift to see you culminating your studies.
This also provides a huge personal satisfaction, when that day finally comes and you tell to that person “I did, and it was because of you” is a moment you will never forget and cherish in your heart for the rest of your life.
