Sometimes, when we are in a very long relationship (either as boyfriend-girlfriend or married couple), we tend to change our ways as to compare to the day the two of you first laid eyes on each other. I, myself, is guilty on this. I know there are things that I am not doing anymore to my partner which I often do when we started dating. That should not be the case. Being in a long and steady relationship is not a reason not for you to be who you are with your significant other 10 years ago. Things may have been changed in your lives like having kids, career, mortgages and a lot more but if you really want to, you can still bring back the spark, the “adrenalin rush” you felt when you had your first date.
Here are some tips to bring back the excitement in your relationship:
1. Have a date night – Friday is the best day to have a date night with your special someone. Why Friday? because if in case you stay out late in your date, you don’t need to wake up really early for work. Not unless you have work during weekends. Pick a day where the next day will be your rest day.
Make sure date night is something special. Dress up nicely if you must. Act as if this is your first date ever. Don’t just bring her to regular restaurants where you go almost all the time. It doesn’t have to be an expensive one, at least something the two of you haven’t tried before.
Watch a movie. Give in to her plea. If you need to watch a Chick Flick with her, so be it. Just tell her the next “Movie Date” would be a suspense or action film.
2. Surprises – For you ladies out there, you can surprise your man by giving him stuff (even small stuff) that he really likes. If he is passionate about collecting toy cars, buy him one. He will treasure that the most because it came from you. Buy tickets of his favorite band or watch basketball live and drink some beers.
As for the gentlemen, flowers can be a cliche but sometimes it works especially if they are not expecting it. Treat her for a spa or massage session for couples. Buy her a purse that she has been eyeing for a very long time.
3. Out of Town – It doesn’t have to be all the time…at least twice a month. It is nice to go to the beach with your partner, relax a little, go clubbing at night, enjoy the food, or sleep during the afternoon and swim in the evening. If you are a little bit adventurous, go out and try water sports.
If budget is a hindrance, you can just stay in town. Check-in in a hotel and forget your worries just for a day. You can go malling nearby the hotel you are staying in. Swim in their pool. Play around in the bath tub. Pig out on junk food or any food that you want to eat. Drink inside the room and get crazy drunk or watch television the whole evening while cuddling.
