How To Be A Good Neighbor?

Before I give tips on how to be a good neighbor, let me explain to you who are our neighbor? They are not the people that live near our house or the one that live in our area. Neighbor is a person apart from us.

Mark 12:31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” It is the word of our Lord and Savior and it is very important for us. If we claimed to be a believer of God, we must do it.

Our neighbor is a person apart from us
Our neighbor is a person apart from us

Leviticus 19:13 You shall not defraud your neighbor, neither rob him…How many people are the victim of fraud? We cannot count with out fingers. There are lots. We cannot see a genuine love to our neighbor. People nowadays tend to hurt the feelings of our neighbor for their own sake. They have no love but self love. That is why, our world is in chaos. So many crimes happen around the world. Everyone wants to get something from someone. People in the government, in some agency, in different offices and even in a relationship. Our world is really upside down. Many are claiming to be Christian but a few follow and live the life of a real Christian.

Leviticus 19:18
“‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. In every side of the world, we can see wars, dis-unity, strife and crimes. They all seek revenge. Cold love is in the heart of people. Haunting for revenge instead of love and forgiveness. Blood is their trophy instead of friendship.

James 2:8 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. The question, who do the right thing? Do you? In all your dealings in life, do you show love or love yourself? We must keep the royal law. Loving our neighbor heartily is worshiping God.

Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.  But nowadays, it is not what they are thinking or doing. People tend to do for their glorification. Not even for the glorification of God. Even claimed Christian nowadays forgot the golden law. They always grab what is due to them but forgetting that we should do what we want to do to us.

Romans 13:8
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. It is really important to love our neighbors. If we do it daily, I know and I believe that there is unity and peace in our home, the Earth. But if we continue on loving ourselves only, we can not attain peace and harmonious relationship to others.

Understanding Others is What we Need to Do
Understanding Others is What we Need to Do

Loving others is loving God. Forgetting others is a work of the devil for he is a cheater, a liar and a killer. He will always send a message of dis-unity, unloving, revenge and strife to one’s heart that is detrimental to the spiritual, physical and social life of man.

Doing the other way of all I write here is showing how to be a good neighbor. If we do the right thing, I know that we do our service to people and to God. This is a reason why we are on earth. We are here to have a close and good relationship with out neighbor because having it is having a good and true relationship with our Almighty God.

  3. This is a very inspiring post!

I try to be a good neighbor in the sense that when I know that I am capable of doing something for others, I extend my help without any hesitations and without asking anything in return.

  4. The one thing that I like about where I live is the people that are directly around us. Some are more like family than neighbors. We all look out for one another.
