Ever heard this saying? It’s absolutely true! Fake it ’til you make it! Sometimes it’s just the act of appearing the way we want to be or feel that causes a reaction of sorts.
Let’s say you wish you could stop feeling so sad and unhappy. If you will force yourself to smile and be happy around other people, the tendency is for other people to smile back. This simple act of receiving a smile in return lifts the spirit and gives an elated feeling.
I do understand there may be situations that are causing grief in your life, but for the most part if you will try to appear happy, happiness will eventually happen. This may sound too simple. Just give it a try. You might be surprised at how the sadness is lifted.
Another way to bring happiness into your life is to volunteer. When you can help someone else whose plight is worse or just different than your own, it brings self-satisfaction and a sense of joy into your life.
Imagine what else you could change by faking it until you make it!
As for me, I keep writing to become a better writer. I am not a professional writer, but I try to act like one (or fake it). One day I will be a pro and all because I just kept pushing forward.
Is there something in your life that you wish were different? Something you could ‘fake’ until it was actually true?
