Trying to eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables each day can be difficult. If you are like me, I consume more than the minimum. But if I had to fill my plate with all this food I would be eating all day! That’s alot of food and more than most people are willing to eat. However, If you learn to mix up a colorful breakfast drink each morning the problem is solved.
First thing each morning I make a version of a green drink. Using a high-powered blender works well to mix up all the crunchy goodness. For the veggies I put one celery stalk, half a cucumber, two handfuls of baby spinach and one carrot. Then I add one half of a green apple, the juice of one lemon, one half of a banana and one cup or so of frozen blueberries. Top with flax-seed meal, cinnamon, pineapple juice and almond milk. Blend well.
I have found that blending vegetables into a drink/smoothie with fruit makes it easy to consume the healthy foods. Try it! Mix and match vegetables and fruit, you will be surprised at how tasty these drinks are. And very, VERY, healthy!
