People, most especially those who are working on a very hectic schedule would find themselves reaching for their multivitamin bottles every single day. It has been a ritual of some sort to make them feel stronger and to help them have the necessary energy to last them through the day. Although vitamins may all be for the purpose of increasing the immune system, their doses differ depending on the person’s needs.
Take for example, a pregnant woman may need more calcium intake than a non-pregnant woman. Why? Because a pregnant woman shares everything that she takes in with the baby inside her. There is one thing that shocked me, though, when I learned that some non-pregnant women would be taking in pre-natal vitamins for the hope of having shinier hair and glowing skin. While this may be a good effect on their hair and skin, still it is not advisable for them to take such kind of vitamins because the presence of too iron much in the pre-natal vitamins would lead to constipation, vomiting and nausea. Would you want to deal with these conditions? That goes the same with too much folic acid which may lead to tingling in the toes, memory loss and what could be the worst part is an increase in heart rate. Now I ask you—beauty or health?
