We can all go without designer handbags and trips to lavish restaurants, but the reality is that you can’t do anything without your health. If you read articles in magazines or newspapers, you may feel like being healthy costs a fortune. The cost of all these exotic ingredients, designer gym clothes, and exclusive exercise classes can soon add up. You can also save on grocery shopping by buying frozen instead of fresh fruit, meat and fish and shopping at the end of the day when prices are slashed. Batch cooking is a great way of producing a lot of food for a small amount of cash, and it’s also really easy and convenient, especially if you struggle to find time to prepare meals after work.
Making healthcare affordable
If your employer offers health benefits, make the most of the package available to you. If you don’t have benefits through your company, look into buying a personal health plan. This plan will enable you to spread the cost of any treatments or services you require. You pay a monthly fee, and in return, you have access to a range of therapies and preventative treatments. If you find it difficult to afford medical treatments or a trip to the dentist, for example, there are also other options to explore. You could look out for free events in your local area, or consider seeking treatment at a student facility. If you need a filling, for example, you’ll pay a lot less for a procedure carried out by a trainee dentist. Prevention is always better than cure, so resist the temptation to try and save money by avoiding your doctor or dentist. Routine appointments and checks are much cheaper than paying for complex treatment.
