Easy To Access And Use
To access the site, log onto Google finance. There you will see five main headings: Markets, News, Portfolios, Stock Screener and Google Domestic Trends.
Markets: Click on Markets to see a chart showing the daily movements of the three main indexes: Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasgaq.
Here also you can read the most recent news story concerning different companies and stock market trends.
News: Click on News to see up to the minute news stories concerning companies of wide interest as well as background news stories related to trends and legal or other matters.
The News page contains about ten articles of interest. You can click on “More U.S. markets news” below the last listing to acess dozens of other recent stock market and business-related stories and articles.
Portfolios: Click on the Portfolios link and you can establish your own list of stocks to watch. It only requires entering the stock symbol for each company you wish to monitor. For each listing, you get the latest stock price as well as several recent stories and articles related to the company.
Stock Screener: Click on Stock Screener and you can check out some 3,000 stocks a page of 20 or 30 listings at a time. Again, just click on any of the listed stocks to see recent prices and related stories and articles.
Google Domestic Trends: Click on this option and you can access charts showing buying trends for such market sectors as Air Travel, Automotive, Computer & Electronics, Insurance, Real Estate and Travel. Here, if you wish, you can download the information to a spreadsheet on your computer.
